About Gaye and the tour
Each painting day will start with an on location demo and teaching session; the remainder of the day will be non stop painting for participants, with personalized coaching at each easel to address challenges as they rise.
I am a representational painter, and strive always to capture a sense of place, and a sense of atmosphere and light that is present in the landscape before me. I will be teaching you how to see accurate value and color relationships, and how to arrive at the correct paint mixtures with which render those key elements.
In addition, I will be teaching you how to edit down the landscape and arrive at a strong, workable design.
Towards the end of the workshop we will dedicate part of a teaching day to doing a group critique. Involvement in the critique is optional, but I do encourage participation as it is a great learning opportunity.

Here is an example itinerary of how you can expect your 8 days to go (this schedule is always subject to change) :
DAY 1
Monday is the first day of our tour and our participants will be arriving throughout the day, if they chose not to arrive early.
We will meet at 7pm for our welcome dinner.
DAY 2-7
Breakfast will be served daily, before travelling to different areas of Konavle. On the tour you will see vistas rich in vineyards, quiet coves, small beaches, flourishing olive tress and quaint architecture. This part of Croatia is unique in its beauty, encouraging one to take pleasure in painting and sketching.
Your painting tour includes scenic areas such as Cavtat, Mlini, Ljuta, and Čilipi. Our day will begin at 8am with breakfast and then the day is set in motion by your instructor… each instructor will vary slightly but mornings and afternoons will be for painting, with a box lunch on location, in between.
At the end of the day we will return to the our accomodations. You will have some time to yourself before the evening meal at 7pm and are encouraged after dinner to spend time exploring the area or enjoying time with your fellow artists, relaxing before your next day of painting. This tour includes all breakfasts, lunches (except on free day), and 4 dinners.
During this trip you will also get a glimpse into the life of locals by enjoying a tour of the old town of Cavtat, a few tastings of local delicacies and wine.
Friday will be a day off and we recommend taking a boat taxi to Old Town Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic.
