GENERAL INFORMATION & CONDITIONS

Tour location:

Cavtat, Croatia - located in Konavle region - so called Croatian Tuscany. The picturesque charming town of Cavtat is possibly the most famous place in Konavle region and it is situated only 18 km from Dubrovnik. Its best kept secret is the old town centre that hides many lovely cafés and restaurants. It has a stunning waterfront lined with palm trees and has been described as closely resembling Saint Tropez.

  1. Prices:
    • All tours are priced in Euro (€). We highly recommend checking the currency exchange to determine the cost in your own currency. Slikamilina is not responsible for the change in price should your currency devalue against the Euro.

  2. Payment Conditions:
    • A reservation deposit of €300 per person is required at the time of booking. We let folks know that the tour is confirmed, at a minimum, 90 days before the start date.  With 90+ days notice, 50% is due 90 days before the date of departure and the final payment is due 60 days prior to the date of departure. If you sign up for a tour within 60 days of the tour departure, full payment will be required before we can confirm you on the tour.  Missing the final payment deadline, as noted on your tour invoice and your initial tour confirmation letter, may result in your being removed from the tour, if there is a waiting list. Please make a note on your calendar of your final payment due date

    • When using PayPal please use the following: put “Down Payment – (Your surname + the instructors name)” in the ‘Item’ area. When making the first payment of 50% please put (50% – Your surname and the instructors name) When paying the balance please put “Balance – (Your surname + the instructors name)”.

    • Single Room Occupancy:
*€550.00 extra per person above the price of the tour.
*Non-painting partner (shared accommodation only) is €200 less than the tour price.

  3. Smoking:
    • We have a “no smoking/vaping” policy on our tours. While we welcome smokers/vapers on our tours, they are not allowed to smoke/vape at group events, on the bus, at meals or in general in any enclosed spaces.

  4. Rooms/Accommodations:
    • Our accommodations are all Guest houses. Guest houses in Croatia rarely get a higher rating then a 3 star.  Our accommodations are all clean, comfortable and well looked after.

    • Some rooms have 2 (two) twins, some may have a double/queen.

    • Rooms are given out in order of deposits received. Unfortunately requesting a room is not possible.

    • Due to the type of accommodations, all rooms are not identical (guests are not staying at a hotel like Best Western). Some rooms have a small kitchenette, some do not. Some accommodations will have private rooms with a bathroom and a shared living room and kitchen. Everyone will have a private room.

    • Rooms are given out in order of deposits received. Unfortunately requesting a room is not possible. Clients need to be aware that there is a disparity between the rooms, but due to the nature of all inclusive trips, there is a not a surcharge for what some people may deem to be the better rooms.

    • Non-smoking Rooms: Many European accommodations classify “no smoking” rooms as a room that you are not smoking in. This means the previous guest may have smoked in your room and there is an ashtray provided. While this has not been a problem for most of our travellers, those with heightened sensitivity to cigarette smoke should know that we cannot guarantee a smoke free room.

    • Accommodation is generally provided in guest houses and similar local establishments. However, in some cases, an instructor may request hotel accommodation for their group during the planning and organization of the tour. If your instructor has advised that your group will be staying in a hotel, this will be the reason.

  5. Food:
    • Breakfast will be served buffet style at a local restaurant.

    • A daily boxed lunch will be prepared, except on your free day.

    • 4 dinners are provided as part of your tour price. You will need to find your own dinner on your free day and 2 other days.

  6. Arrival:
    • Unless you will be traveling around before the workshop, we recommend you fly to the Dubrovnik airport. There are no direct flights from North America, but you can change in the European city associated with your airline. A transfer will be organized for you from the airport to our accommodations on whatever day you arrive.

  7. Pre-Tour Accommodation:
    • We request that members organize their flights to arrive on or before the start date of the tour. You are welcome to arrive at any hour, a transfer will be organized for you from the airport to our accommodations.

  8. Post-Tour Accommodation:
    • Members are asked to depart on or after the last date of the tour.  You are welcome to leave at any hour, a transfer can be organized for you, at your expense.

  9. Alterations:
    • Alterations to Painting/Sketching Tour Price. The tour price is subject to change in the event of unforeseen circumstances and changes in the cost of travel and accommodation services. Should there be an increase in price, we will allow any participant to withdraw at no cost. Please be reminded that Slikamilina only advertises in Euros, any changes in exchange rates are not the responsibility of Slikamilina.

  10. Cancellation and Amendments:
    • Once the tour has been confirmed, cancellations received in writing 61 or more days from the date of departure will result in a loss of your deposit but a full refund of the balance of your tour price. Cancellations received 60 or fewer days before departure will result in a loss of all payments made.

    • There are no refunds for services not utilized while on a Painting Tour. All cancellations must be sent to Slikamilina Painting Tours in writing via email to slikamilina@yahoo.ca, and will be effective on the date received by Slikamilina Painting Tours.

    • Travel insurance is highly recommended to cover Tour members for the consequences of unforeseen events during the Painting Tour and for cancellation fees that could result from illness, accident, death or other contingencies. Slikamilina does not hold any responsibility in case of any injury, loss of life, damage or theft during the whole duration of the tours.

    • All tour participants are required to complete, sign and return, prior to their tour starting date, a Release and Waiver Agreement and Medical Form. Should a failure to return a complete and accurate Release and Waiver Agreement and Medical Form occur, Slikamilina keeps the right to exclude the participant from the tour.

  11. Minimum Workshop Vacation Numbers:
    • Each Painting/Photography Tour has been priced on the basis of a minimum number of 8 members traveling. In the event that fewer than the minimum number of participants have confirmed their booking 90 days from the date of commencement, Slikamilina Painting Tours reserves the right to cancel the Tour, giving a full refund of monies paid, or to offer arrangements to proceed with the Tour at a modified price. If Slikamilina Painting Tours cancels a tour you have reserved, the entire amount you have paid to Slikamilina Painting Tours for the applicable tour will be refunded to you within fourteen days after the tour’s cancellation (unless section 11, bullet 1 has occurred). Once this occurs, Slikamilina Painting Tours have no other obligations to tour members on cancelled trips including any additional costs or fees related to the issuance and/or cancellation of airline tickets or other travel reservations not made by Slikamilina Painting Tours. We highly encourage our participants to wait for the tour confirmation before booking any airline tickets.

  12. General:
    • In the unlikely event that the Painting Tour tutor is unable to perform his or her duties due to unforeseen contingencies, Slikamilina Painting Tours reserves the right to substitute another artist as tutor or to continue with the Painting Tour as planned or to refund the entire amount you have paid to Slikamilina Painting  Tours for the applicable tour.

    • Fitness: Slikamilina Painting Tours can involve a small amount of walking and stair-climbing in the regions visited and it is important that all members have a level of physical fitness that allows them to take part in these activities without the need of assistance from others. We will offer assistance when we can, however this is not always available. All participants are responsible for their own luggage and items throughout the tour.

    • Art Supplies: All art supplies must be brought with the tour participant for all days of painting. Supplies may be limited in the towns that you will be visiting. A folding chair and easel should be considered part of your art supplies.

    • Tipping: We always encourage our guests to value good service, tipping is never included in bills in Croatia. We would suggest 10% but this of course is at your discretion.

    • Transportation: Guests will encounter buses, ferries, boat taxi’s and mini-buses on this trip. Croatians are speedy drivers and the roads here are very curvy. If you have motion sickness problems, mild or major, be sure to bring whatever remedies work for you.

    • Electrical Adapters and Converters: Europe’s electrical system is different from North America in two ways: the voltage of the current and the shape of the plug. The United Kingdom differs only in the shape of the plug.  Please bear in mind when packing, that you may have to check if your appliance is adaptable to a 220V and beware that you will need an adapter for European plugs. These can usually be found in the airports.

  13. International cell phones:
    • Please beware that as you are travelling internationally, some extra charges may occur. Please contact your provider before travelling in order to avoid any unwanted extra charges on your phone bill. We recommend turning off Mobile Data and switch to Airplane mode when out of any Wifi access area. Local sim cards are easily available at any supermarket and the kiosks on arrival at the airport.

  14. Tax Considerations:
    • If you regularly sell your own paintings, you may fall into the semi-professional or professional category for taxation purposes and the tour cost may be tax-deductible. We recommend that you seek the advice of a qualified tax adviser.

  15. Participation:
    • We want everyone to have a good time, however sometimes someone participating in a tour can misbehave, discriminate or do things that are incompatible with the safety, comfort, or convenience of other members of the tour. In those circumstances we have the exclusive right and discretion to expel someone (yes, even you) from a tour at any time, without any claims or complaints by you against Slikamilina Painting Tours. We would ask our participants to approach a member of staff should anything ever occur.

  16. Responsibilities:
    • Slikamilina Painting Tours shall act only as agents for the passenger in making arrangements for hotels, transportation, restaurants, or any other service and do not assume any liability whatsoever for any injury, damage, death, loss, accident or delay to person or property due to an act of negligence or of default of any hotel, carrier, restaurant, company or person rendering any services included in the Tours, or by act of God. Further, no responsibilities are accepted for any damage or delay due to sickness, pilferage, labor disputes, machinery breakdown, quarantine, government restraints, weather, terrorism, or other causes beyond their control. No responsibility is accepted for any additional expenses, omissions, delays, rerouting or acts of any government or authority. The right is reserved to withdraw any Painting Tour and/or to make such changes in the Painting Tours as may be found desirable for the convenience of the parties and the proper carrying-out of the Painting Tour.
